Rev. Nicole M. Barnes is a native of Indianapolis, IN where she discovered her love for God and God’s people. She is an ordained minister at Eastern Star Church where she has served in various ministries including the Ignite youth and teen ministry, the women’s ministry and young adult ministry. She is also a worship leader and has served on various administrative committees.

 

Currently she serves as the National Civic Engagement Director at Faith in Action and the Executive Director for their political arm, Faith in Action Fund. In this role, she works alongside staff and grassroots leaders, across the country to shape and lead voter engagement efforts that build governing power from the ground up—advancing bold, community-driven agendas locally, statewide, and nationally.

 

Recently, her work has afforded her the privilege to speak on global platforms like the Parliament of the World’s Religions and The Sisters in Solidarity International Conference for Religious Leaders in Ghana.

 

She values her faith and education with an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan and graduated, summa cum laude, from Christian Theological Seminary, in Indianapolis with a Master of Divinity degree in 2020. Rooted in her walk with God, she remains steadfast in her calling to serve where faith, community, and justice meet—encouraging God’s people to tap into the overflow of God’s love, provision, and power.

 

She champions the rights and voices of those who are underprivileged, underserved and undervalued. She is also a proud servant on the Board of Directors for Black Women of Faith, The Woman Print Foundation, the Indianapolis International Airport Interfaith Chaplaincy Board and president of the CTS Alumni Board.

 

Nicole is also a sports fanatic who loves music, food, culture and time with family and friends.
